Focus on constitutional guarantees for the preservation of traditional values

On February 11, 2022, the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the Educational Institution "Institute for Advanced Training and Retraining of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus" and the Commissioner for Religious and Ethnic Affairs of the Republic of Belarus held a round table "Constitutional guarantees for strengthening the family and marriage, preserving traditional values".
The event was attended by representatives of the State Secretariat of the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus, the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the Office of the Commissioner for Religious and Ethnic Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, the Operational and Analytical Center under the President of the Republic of Belarus, the National Center for Legal Information of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies, the Belarusian Republican Bar Association, the Belarusian Notary chambers, the Belarusian Republican Youth Union, the Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, the Belarusian National Technical University, the Institute of the Investigative Committee, the Belarusian Orthodox Church, the Roman Catholic Church in the Republic of Belarus, the Muslim Religious Association in the Republic of Belarus, the Jewish Religious Association in the Republic of Belarus, the Religious Association of Jewish Religious Communities in the Republic of Belarus, Religious Association of Communities of Progressive Judaism in the Republic of Belarus, Republican Religious Association "Conference of Seventh-day Adventist Churches in the Republic of Belarus", Union of Evangelical Christians-Baptists in the Republic of Belarus, United Church of Christians of the Evangelical Faith in the Republic of Belarus.
The round table is especially relevant on the eve of the national referendum, since the proposed amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus affect the legal norms on marriage and the family.
During the discussion, the activities of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus on the disclosure of crimes in the family and domestic sphere, countering pedophilia, and distributing pornographic materials involving minors were presented. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of preventive work to prevent these criminal manifestations.
Attention was also paid to the issues of educating children and young people in the spirit of morality, patriotism and respect for the history and laws of our country.
Speakers representing both state bodies and organizations and religious denominations
noted the role of the family as the basis of a strong and prosperous state. The speakers expressed interest in strengthening the institution of the family, popularizing traditional family relations, stressed the uniqueness and productivity of the format of the event, and praised the constructive dialogue.
As a result of the round table, a resolution was adopted, which reflects the opinion of those present on the need to constitutionally consolidate the preservation of traditional values, strengthen the family and marriage as a union of a man and a woman, and determines the directions for further interaction between state bodies and religious organizations.
